We are all shaped by our environment, social location, family, our culture and so much more. We prefer to be with those who look most like ourselves. We would strongly deny or get offended if another person called us out and accused us, of treating someone disrespectfully or being a racist.  Yet, deep inside all of us there are those biases and every day our decisions are based on them. This form of bias may lead to discriminatory behaviour. Every day we have to challenge ourselves, learn to value what each person has to contribute regardless of their difference.

Topics include:

1. Becoming acquainted with a new body

2. Learning how to navigate through life-AGAIN

3. As a team we can enhance well-being and pave ways for fulfilment of us all.

Ann Divine, CEO, Ashanti Leadership & PDS, is an accomplished businesswoman, known and respected for her professionalism and willingness to support, coach and mentor others. Her business provides extensive career and professional guidance in leadership development and social justice issues.

Professor David Divine has spent a lifetime dealing with challenges occasioned by circumstances beyond his control, and also, using his lessons learnt from such experiences, sought to assist others in similar circumstances. We have agency. We have choices. Please use them. My contribution to the webinar explores how I sought to be interdependent, use my vision and power to change the impact of circumstances I found myself in and grasp new ways to actively ‘be’ my authentic self. Simone de Beauvoir expresses it beautifully and truly: ‘It is in the knowledge of the genuine conditions of our lives that we must draw our strength to live and our reasons for acting’.
